Iowa Events Center officials recently announced a significant change for downtown Des Moines’ entertainment scene: the Wells Fargo Arena will be renamed the Casey’s Center. This shift follows an agreement with Casey’s General Stores, a company based in Ankeny, Iowa, marking a new chapter for the 17,000-seat venue.

Naming Rights Awarded to Casey’s General Stores

After approximately eight months of negotiations, Casey’s General Stores secured the naming rights to the arena. These talks involved Polk County and the Oak View Group, the operators of the Iowa Events Center. This agreement will replace the existing 20-year partnership with Wells Fargo, which is set to expire on June 30, 2025.

Transition Timeline

The transition to the Casey’s Center will take effect on July 1, 2025, following the expiration of the Wells Fargo contract. The official approval of the name change is expected during the Polk County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, cementing the arena’s new identity.

A New Era for a Key Des Moines Venue

The Wells Fargo Arena has been a cornerstone of downtown Des Moines since its naming agreement began, hosting countless concerts, sporting events, and other large-scale gatherings. With Casey’s General Stores stepping in, the arena will usher in a new era under its new name, continuing to serve as a major entertainment hub for Iowa.

This rebranding aligns with Casey’s General Stores’ growing influence and presence across the region, further embedding itself in the community’s cultural and entertainment landscape. The arena will remain a vital part of downtown Des Moines, but with a fresh identity reflecting its new partnership with a local icon.

Stay tuned for more updates as this change becomes official.
